Artist's Description
I like to keep my eyes open for unique perspectives on popular locations and this night at Maroon Lake sure worked out in that direction. It may not be "perfect" but the skies certainly cooperated for me. And for the first time in all my visits to Maroon Lake at night, I was not greeted by Bear and Moose - which was just fine with me!
How I Got The Shot
Aside from my timing with the Aspen Trees turning bright gold and the skies opening up to reveal the Milky Way leaning to the right, I really wanted this perspective from the far side of the lake. To me, it gives a really interesting view of the mountains that's rarely captured - considering how many photographers go to this popular spot.
To capture the panoramic sequence, I shot two rows of images using a vertical orientation. I tend to aim for about 50% overlap with each frame in order to make the stitching process go smoothly. And with that process taking some time, I also like to shoot the area that's lik...
