Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
Sometimes it's nice to take a little break from the short exposure points of light nightscapes to see what happens when you open up a camera's sensor for a long time.
The noise goes away and the colors and details appear more prominent. And while the star trails may not appeal to everyone, they bring a sense of time to a photograph. Instead of showing light from an instant in time, they show the result of light captured while the earth rotates below the stars.

How I Got The Shot
I used my long-exposure cheat sheet to quickly determine my long-exposure settings. This worked well in shorter tests so I went for a longer one at 32 minutes in length. If you're interested, here's a link to see my tutorial on how to use the cheatsheet: goo.gl/cbPfTC.
Since I was pretty sure this was my last shot for the night, I turned on my camera's long-exposure noise reduction...
