Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Mount Evans may be close to Denver's light pollution, but at 14,000 feet in elevation, the view of the stars above is very clear. In this image, Milky Way stars trail across the sky above the Meyer-Womble Observatory near the top of the mountain.

How I Got The Shot
Since I'd been to this location a few times before, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted this time. I knew I wanted timing that would have the Milky Way leaning over the observatory while I looked at the front. I also knew that while the city lights from Denver provided most of the illumination, I wanted to add some from the far right as well (using an LED Light Panel). Finally,...
Having found his love for photography deep in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, Mike found a great drive to share the wonders of the world with those who aren't so fortunate to see it for themselves. Now, he uses that same passion to drive into the dark of the night in his home state of Colorado and beyond - still with the same underlying mission to share the wonders of the world with those who aren't so fortunate. Join Mike on a photographic adventure - whether through one of his images or on one of his night photography workshops. That's right, you can share the passion and see the techniques that result in magnificent nightscape images. Either way, you're sure to pick up some inspiration along the way! For those...
